About the Flair Tracker Bot
The Flair Tracker Bot is an automated tool designed to monitor and analyze Reddit posts within specified subreddits. Its primary function is to provide regular, insightful summaries of content based on post flair and engagement.
Key Features:
- Targeted Monitoring: The bot focuses on posts with a specific flair (e.g., “Discussion,” “Question,” “News”) within a designated subreddit, ensuring that only relevant content is tracked.
- Engagement Tracking: For each monitored post, the bot records key metrics such as the post title, author, and upvote count.
- Daily Summaries: Once or twice daily, the bot compiles and posts a comprehensive summary directly to a specified subreddit. This summary includes:
- The total number of tracked posts for the day.
- The cumulative upvote count across all tracked posts.
- A “Top 3 Posts” section, highlighting the most engaged-with content based on upvotes, complete with titles, authors, and their respective scores.
- Persistent Data Storage: All collected data is stored in a local database, allowing for consistent tracking and future analysis.
- Automated Operation: The bot runs on a predefined schedule, ensuring timely and consistent reporting without manual intervention.
How It Works:
The bot leverages the Reddit API to access public post data. It filters submissions by the specified flair, extracts relevant information, and stores it. At scheduled intervals, it queries this stored data to generate a markdown-formatted summary, which it then publishes as a new self-post in the designated subreddit.
This tool is ideal for subreddit moderators, community managers, or anyone interested in gaining automated insights into specific content trends and user engagement patterns on Reddit.
